Victims discovered right after home destroyed by hearth on Dr. Thomas Avenue MPD investigating circumstance as a homicide | Cell County Alabama News

Mobile, Ala. (WALA) — Two people are dead subsequent a Wednesday house fire on Dr. Thomas Avenue in Cellular. Law enforcement are investigating the circumstance as a homicide. 

Neighbors tell FOX10 News the victims of the fireplace are Tony Lewis and Leila Lewis, grandparents of community rap artist HoneyKomb Brazy.

HoneyKomb Brazy posted a picture of his grandparents on Instagram.

Firefighters were very first referred to as to the scene all around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. They reported the property was a overall loss and the hearth so powerful it melted the siding to a neighboring dwelling.

Later in the night, Cell Hearth-Rescue mentioned they identified the two victims. 

The hearth demolished the Lewis home and also severely broken the future-door household of Pearlie Olison Howard. She informed FOX10 Information that she was in her bed room when she listened to gunshots. She explained she termed police and hit the flooring.

It was not till she went outside that she realized her possess property was on fire.

“It was terrifying,” reported her son, Jesse Howard. “I necessarily mean, bullets have been traveling across our heads”

Fredrick Olison, a cousin of Leila Lewis who life a number of residences down the street, recalled the explosion.

“I read a few gunshots,” he explained. “And I read a significant increase. And when we read the growth, we attempted to go down there and up, open the door. I signify, get to the door.”

But Olison reported the residence was entirely engulfed by that time.

“They had been good men and women, male. They did not have earned it,” he mentioned.

FOX10 Information has confirmed that ATF is investigating the blaze.

Officials say ATF has Licensed Hearth Investigators, Accredited Explosives Specialists and bomb techs on scene to decide the origin and result in of the incident.
