HCE units program things to do for August | Residence & Yard

BLOOMINGTON — McLean County Association for House and Community Schooling teams (HCE) will sponsor Younger at Coronary heart Day at the McLean County Truthful on Thursday, August 5 in the Cloverleaf Auditorium from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Younger at Coronary heart is a working day devoted to seniors age 60 and older. Entry to the reasonable is cost-free and all routines, foodstuff and beverages are delivered no cost of charge. Door prizes will be introduced throughout the early morning. The Central Illinois Banjo Band will complete in the morning with dancing and vendor booths available. Golf cart tours of the fairgrounds are presented each half hour. Don Meyer will emcee this celebration.

HCE users will also take part in the 4-H Bake-off on Saturday, August 7, sponsored by the Timeless Clovers, a 4-H alumni group. The community is invited to convey baked goods from 12-1 p.m. to the Cloverleaf Auditorium at the McLean County Good to be judged and then auctioned off in the afternoon. Proceeds will help future 4-H plans. Any baked merchandise not requiring refrigeration might be entered. A new group for gluten-free baked products will be supplied this year.

On August 19, HCE will sponsor a bake sale at the LeRoy Farmers Marketplace from 4-7 p.m. The community is invited to appear and aid this effort and hard work by buying delicious baked merchandise ready by veteran bakers. Proceeds assistance 4-H systems and scholarships.

The Neighborhood Leader Lesson for September unit conferences will be offered on Tuesday, August 24 at 12:30 p.m. at the McLean County Farm Bureau auditorium at 2242 Westgate Generate, Bloomington. The lesson is “Biscuits Then and Now and Sourdough.”

The public is invited to all events held by McLean County HCE.
