“Original product is so substantially much better than what you can obtain,” Kurt claims. Immediately after refurbishing the authentic created-in cabinets in the master bed room, the Ackermans set in cabinets in just about every room upstairs in the more mature type of the house.
Now, just after an addition and the comprehensive restoration procedure, the Glass Dwelling is 3,000 sq. toes with a few bedrooms and two and a half baths. The brick driveway is an original portion of the dwelling, alongside with an authentic tub, primary door components in the course of the residence and some light-weight fixtures from both equally the 1870s and 1920s.
The couple even experienced a photograph of the home from a 1895 article in the neighborhood paper, the Edwardsville Intelligencer. They matched the unique rectangle design and style on the entrance porch of the home, which is Kurt’s major intention with any job.
“Every time I take on a project I like taking it back again to what it was. We retained a whole lot of the unique stuff,” he claims. “We may transfer issues all-around, but I try out to keep as much of the first household that we perhaps can.”
