PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 12-year-old girl died of a gunshot wound early Friday morning in her Collegeville home.
Police were called to the house in Perkiomen Woods, in Upper Providence Township, just before 8 a.m.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, responding officers found the girl in the living room with a single gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A gun was recovered from the scene. Detectives are investigating how the gun went off.
Family members were present when officers arrived.
Authorities say there is no danger to the community or a search for a gunman. The shooting was isolated in the house.
