CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A SWAT group is doing the job to negotiate with a driver who crashed by way of a Fleming Island household Sunday and refused to appear out of the dwelling, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Prepare dinner reported.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Business office, southbound visitors on State Aspect Travel and Summit Ridge Highway has been shut down and close by houses have been evacuated.
Cook dinner mentioned neighbors identified as 911 all over 9 a.m. to report a prospective burglary in progress. She mentioned that when deputies arrived, they observed a car that had crashed via a property.
The sheriff claimed around noon that they feel the driver of the motor vehicle is still inside of the residence.
“He refused to come out, so we have SWAT and negotiators here seeking to negotiate a harmless, ending to this problem,” Cook dinner reported.
Prepare dinner said the driver is not the owner of the home. She claimed the house owner was out of state at the time of the incident.
The sheriff also advised reporters that the Fleming Island incident “is probably likely to be related” to an incident in St. Johns County, but she did not supply any other information.
