Susan Lyman Obituary (2021) – Traverse Town, MI

Susan Lynn Lyman, 71, of Traverse Metropolis, Mich., handed absent peacefully at her house on Aug. 2, 2021, with her household by her side.

Susan was born on Sept. 9, 1949, in Benton Harbor, to the late Donald Carl and Betty Jane (Woods) Swanson.

Susan grew up in Benton Harbor, loving the seashores and waters of Lake Michigan. On Aug. 30, 1969, Susan married her greatest close friend, Gregory Alan Lyman, in Benton Harbor. Residing in Lansing, Mich., Susan received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State College.

Susan was an fantastic educator, educating significant school English, literature and wellbeing in Potterville, Mich., for 36 decades. Following her retirement in 2008, Susan and Greg moved to their household on the Previous Mission Peninsula overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay, Mich.

In retirement, Susan started off a Polish Pottery business, which she operated in Traverse Town for lots of years. She continued her curiosity in antiques and attending musical performances at Wharton Centre and the City Opera Property. During the summer months, Susan enjoyed being at the lake with her children and grandchildren. All through the winter season, Susan was recognized for her famous Christmas functions, replete with decorations and foodstuff. Susan’s once-a-year outings to the shorelines of Florida and Mexico were essential. She liked to journey and Susan fondly remembered excursions to Hawaii, England, Italy, Brazil and Costa Rica.

Susan was a committed spouse, mom, grandmother, instructor and close friend. As a potent advocate for her kids and grandchildren, she was lovingly identified as “a drive to be reckoned with.” Susan was solid and impartial, but loving and compassionate. She will normally be remembered by her spouse and children and all who realized and knowledgeable life with her.

Susan will be considerably skipped by her spouse of 51 decades, Greg her little ones: Bretton Lyman of Monterrey, Mexico, Megan (Geoff) Feil of Alpharetta, Ga., Cortney (Chris) Danbrook of Traverse Town, Mich., Hilary (Ross Bower) Lyman Bower of Okemos, Mich., her grandchildren: Samantha and Emma Feil, Brogan and Hudson Danbrook, Mya, Anora and Beckham Bower and her brother, Donald C. (Vicki) Swanson.

Susan will be laid to relaxation at the Peninsula Township Cemetery, Mich.

The family will rejoice her lifestyle at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the family members property on Smokey Hollow Street, which is open to all who realized her. Her household will guide the provider of really like and remembrance.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Traverse Town Opera Household or to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.
