Police: Shoplifter killed in shootout just after wounding Home Depot guard, CPD officer in Brighton Park

CHICAGO – An alleged shoplifter, accused of shooting a Chicago law enforcement officer and gravely wounding a Property Depot security guard, was killed through a tense standoff with law enforcement Thursday in Brighton Park.

The officer shot is the city’s fourth in two weeks, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown claimed.

In accordance to law enforcement, an ambulance transported the wounded officer to Mt. Sinai healthcare facility. He was addressed for his non-existence-threatening injuries and afterwards introduced.

SkyCam 9 cameras rolled as the incident unfolded in the 2500 block of W. 46th St. just right before 5 p.m. In accordance to law enforcement, the incident started at a nearby Household Depot. The robber allegedly got into an altercation with a loss prevention officer and shot him in the head. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Health-related Middle in “grave condition.”

Chicago law enforcement responded to the scene, Supt. Brown extra. Through a foot chase, the alleged gunman fired pictures at officers, striking an officer in the shoulder.

Additional officers pursued the suspect, law enforcement reported. A shootout ensued and the alleged gunman was shot. He was transported to Stroger Clinic for remedy and was pronounced lifeless.

Following the incident, Supt. Brown expressed aggravation about another officer being shot and the dangers of the work.

“We are jeopardizing our lives every single day to secure this metropolis,” Supt. Brown mentioned. “I just cannot say adequate about how a great deal braveness and bravery it usually takes to operate towards bullets when other people would cower and give up and run the reverse way.
