Inside designer Nina Magon’s reimagining of a bed room suite in pink, with sexy curves and European design was all for an imaginery countess the Houston entrepreneur conjured for inspiration.
Magon, who lately rebranded her Contour Inside Design into a far more identifiable Nina Magon Studio, developed the bed room — “Camera da letto della Contessa” (the Countess’ Bed room) — for the 2021 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse Palm Beach.
Kips Bay has conducted showhouse fund raisers in New York for decades, and four a long time ago branched out to Palm Seaside, Fla. In October the team held its initial fundraiser in Dallas. Magon was the sole Texan recruited to be component of the Palm Beach front event, which runs by way of May perhaps 9.
The Palm Beach front exhibit property, a five-bed room, 6-toilet Mediterranean villa, was reinvented inside and outdoors by 20 layout teams.
“It’s a authentic honor to be asked to do Kips Bay. As a designer, it is one of people points you normally want to do,” she claimed. “We were being requested to do it in January and in February we acquired what area we would have. It’s a fairly quickly transform-all over, and it surely tested our limits.”

Magon, a admirer of Italian design, also tapped into the work of Vogue photographer Horst P. Horst, who for a long time captured the sorts of classy gals all above the planet.
She imagined a “fair haired Italian contessa” in a Horst photo “retreating to her bed room in her Italianate Palm Seaside villa, longing for her missing love.”
Magon, whose organization models all the things from sophisticated properties to restaurant interiors (51Fifteen at Sak’s) jewelry keep lounges (Zadok Jewelers) and lodge spas (The Houstonian’s Solaya Spa & Salon), jumped at the possibility to be part of the prestigious Kips Bay party.
“I noticed the Kips Bay showhouse in 2020, and the rooms that I saw had been much more traditional,” stated Magon. “I preferred to get a clean, new strategy to the layout and also be genuine to myself — I’m a modernist.”
When she spotted a pink flamingo, she understood what her shade palette would be: pink.
The bedroom was modest and basic, but Magon’s touch extends to every floor. She added paneling and crown moulding, all painted Benjamin Moore’s “Rosy Tan,” and she wallpapered the ceiling with a pattern she made for her selection with Wall and Deco, an Italian maker of wallcoverings.
In June, Magon will start a lights collection with Studio M Lighting, a division of Maxim Lighting, like the sculptural chandelier she designed for the Kips Bay bed room and a trio of pendants set up in its bathroom. (The lights was manufactured in pink just for this suite it will be obtainable in other colors in the new selection.)
And if all of that isn’t glam ample, Magon created the mattress with a wall-to-wall headboard and a system lined in Cosentino’s Taga Dekton and with Fabricut upholstery.
A pink-and-white rug, developed by Magon and created by New Moon Rugs, delivers a tiny whimsy in polka dots. The draperies by the Shade Retailer (with Fabricut material) are pure luxurious.
A cozy corner has a Pacha Lounge Chair by Pierre Paulin for GUBI and a white leather-based facet desk by Stephane Parmentier for Giobagnara sitting under a pair of 50 percent-moon mirrors. An adjacent wall holds an iconic Horst picture, “Jean Patchett, bathing accommodate by Brigance” (1951).
It is defnitely match for a contessa.
