COVID-19 may possibly have curbed inside designer Linda Engler’s products-sourcing visits to Los Angeles. But as it turns out, the time to stay at home couldn’t have been improved. California was on her mind every step of the way as she transformed the 1956 Edina rambler she shares with her partner, Dave. “I’ve usually been intrigued by the architecture, the landscape, the color palettes, and the content use of the West,” Engler suggests. “It’s additional calm and much more organic and natural, with extra fashionable varieties. It’s a lot more me.”

The glimpse requires form in the home’s clear-lined envelope, which the designer filled with persona and pops of coloration. “It’s midcentury, but it is received my riff on it,” Engler claims. That riff features a pair of bold orange desk lamps uncovered at Retro Wanderlust in Hopkins a 10 years in the past. “If my home were on fire, I’d help save my husband and doggy and those lamps,” she says.

All those lamps could be a person-of-a-form, but Engler has loads of other California-impressed style and design tips to share. In this article are her best five.
