An Innovative Solution to a Simple Request

The want checklist of the longtime house owners of this Stillwater house was not strange, but the instances have been. They wanted to basically update and open up the kitchen area to make entertaining simpler, but the adjoining spouse and children area was sunken and highlighted a vaulted ceiling substantially higher than in the kitchen area. Just opening up a wall wasn’t likely to cut it. “It was a small uncommon, but we solved the trouble by leveling the flooring with new wood flooring during and including a floating wood soffit over the new island,” says Suzanne Pottinger, spacial designer and co-owner of Novare Renovation & Style. “It unified the house while incorporating some personalized character.”

Refreshing white cupboards paired with a heat wood island, matte granite counter tops, and a selection of light-weight fixtures (together with pendants, activity, in-cupboard, and recessed ceiling lights) add extra curiosity and give the space a timeless come to feel. Character-grade hickory hardwood flooring with a custom made stain make depth and tie the structure collectively. Pottinger claims the vacant-nester clientele with a developing extended relatives ended up ecstatic with the over-all result: “They were being a minimal nervous in the course of the budgeting and style and design period,” she recalls, “but it was a satisfaction to guidebook them through that and get there at this satisfied result.”
