Mid-Century Contemporary Properties of Iowa Tours | Residence & Backyard garden

DES MOINES, Iowa — Consider digital tours of four Iowa houses that epitomize the Mid-Century Modern design aesthetic and take part in a Q&A by using Zoom with the householders.

Iowa Architectural Foundation and Iowa Mid-Century Modern-day are collaborating on the tours to celebrate Modernism Month.

Backlinks to the virtual excursions are to be unveiled to ticket holders, one for each working day, setting up on April 26. Access to each individual tour will be for two weeks to give ticket holders plenty of time to enjoy. The homeowners will sign up for ticketholders at a unique Zoom Q&A, Sunday, May well 2, from 4–5:30 p.m.

  • Oskaloosa dwelling, made in 1948 by Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959), which has been restored by its owners.
  • Indianola residence, created by architect David Block, AIA.
  • Des Moines residence, created in 1952 by architect Amos Emery (1895-1973).
  • Des Moines home, developed in 1954 and designed by architect Jim Lynch (1923-2000).

The tours will be led by the house owners, who will share their expertise of residing in, restoring or renovating, caring for, and their future plans for these outstanding residences. 

Tickets are offered for $48 at eventbrite.com. The ticket selling price consists of tours of all four properties and the Q&A Zoom with the homeowners. Tickets are necessary for accessibility.
