ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two people have been charged right after a funeral van with a woman’s body within was stolen Thursday from a fuel station.

Brian Schaake, 38, was charged Saturday with stealing a motor vehicle. Christina Kalb was billed with second-degree misdemeanor tampering with an additional car.

According to charging paperwork, the theft transpired at the Quiktrip on 12110 Lusher Rd. A William Harris Funeral Dwelling worker still left the van working at a gasoline pump with the keys inside as he went into the Quiktrip to use the restroom. When he came back again out, he learned the van had been stolen.

Video clip surveillance showed a guy get into the driver’s aspect and a lady get into the passenger side. They then drove away. Surveillance footage from a Walgreen’s throughout the avenue confirmed two people who matched their descriptions entering and exiting the Walgreen’s and then going for walks across the street towards the QuickTrip.

Friday early morning in Jefferson County, a driver saw the van with the description and adopted it.

The van pulled into the Walmart parking good deal in Festus and the driver alerted police. Schaake and Kalb have been arrested inside the Walmart, and the van and entire body were recovered.

Schaake is staying held on a $40,000 cash-only bond.

Detectives from the St. Louis County Law enforcement Department’s Car Crime Device are major the investigation.
