When Annsley McAleer’s shoppers requested her to devise a plan for their daughters’ bedroom in their new summer season household in Ogunquit, Maine, she realized just what hues to select. “I understood the girls have been at an age the place they would be fascinated in blues and greens, so I showed them various options in this coloration vary,” claims the designer, whose personal daughters are the exact same age. The customers did have a single ask for: that McAleer layout a loft to run across the best of the room as a cozy escape. “It’s just huge plenty of for them to go up and read through,” McAleer says, “or just get away.”
1 The twin-toned Moroccan wool rug by J.D. Staron adds depth and makes the room truly feel extra mature.
2 McAleer intended the upholstered beds, 1 of which is a trundle for sleepovers. She selected a peacock-blue cotton poplin by Schumacher for the foundation and a linen/cotton blend cloth by John Robshaw for the headboard. The cotton voile coverlets and paisley quilts are also by John Robshaw.
3 Custom roman shades manufactured from linen by Ferran add color to the whitewashed, nickel hole wall paneling. Purely natural wooden beams operate all through the exposed timber frame house.
4 To embellish the cathedral ceiling, McAleer commissioned decorative painter Pauline Curtiss of Patina Styles to make a cement tile-like pattern with a bohemian twist. “The ceiling is so high, I desired to do anything fascinating to heat it up,” McAleer suggests.
5 The handmade chandelier by Stray Puppy Styles features spiky papier-mâché leaves that participate in off the ceiling sample.
6 Chase Design crafted the ladder and railing for the loft. “We intended the irregular balusters with a farmhouse feel in preserving with the fashion of the household,” McAleer claims.
